Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)

This is my first experience with watching this movie as I have not seen the remake and this movie represented very good quality production for its time. The actor that represented Klaatu was very good and made very convincing conversations with other characters in the film including Robby and Mrs. Benson. Klaatu wanted to express to the people of D.C. that he wanted to explain his reasoning for coming to Earth; which happened at the end of the film.

I believe the main theme for the "The Day the Earth Stood Still" is the idea of fear over reason. The people in D.C. were afraid of maybe the Russians possibly sending them a nuclear missile in the form of the spaceship so they were too afraid to actually find out what it was. Klaatu wanted to warn the people about what the World was doing but the people were too worried about what possible danger the aliens could become. That is why Klaatu made all electricity in the world to stop working in order to make them stop and listen.
